Coram, the UK’s first children’s charity, champions what matters most for children
For some children, it’s the practical support that Coram provides for thousands of families each year. For others, it’s an overwhelming need to be adopted into a stable and loving home.
Coram works with more than 15,000 children and parents every year. Coram Children’s Legal Centre offers free specialist advice to thousands more, and Coram Life Education provides health and drug education to a further 800,000 school children. From creative therapies for traumatised children, to supported housing for care leavers, we create better chances and a brighter, happier future.
Coram since 1739
Coram has been creating better chances for children for more than 270 years. Established as the Foundling Hospital by philanthropist Thomas Coram in Bloomsbury, we provided a home for children dying on London streets. The world has changed, but too many children are still alone and at risk, marginalised at school or without a place they can call home. Coram provides the care and support today’s children need to feel safe and loved, and to take responsibility for their own lives.

Why Coram is special
Coram has a pioneering approach, developing new projects, proving them with research and sharing knowledge and best practice with others so they can be rolled out across the UK.
Coram’s voluntary adoption service is one of the most successful in the UK, finding families for the most vulnerable children.
With its pre-adoption training and a lifetime of support for adoptive families, Coram has one of the highest placement success rates.
Coram provides accommodation for young people at risk of becoming homeless, including those leaving care. Offering more than just a roof over their heads, Coram supports teenagers to take part in education or training or find employment.
Coram helps children to make healthy choices through Coram Life Education (CLE).
Coram Life Education visits schools across the country, using interactive workshops with puppetry and BBC-produced film content, to educate children about healthy lifestyle choices. The fun programme helps children aged 3-11 understand the importance of exercise, self-esteem, drugs awareness, assertiveness and anti-bullying techniques.

Through the money raised by Aedas Cycle to Cannes we want to give:
10 children in care the chance of a permanent adoptive home by finding, training and preparing sets of parents to adopt them.
30 children placed with adoptive parents guaranteed support they need from Coram, whenever they need it, for the whole of their lives.
10,000 children the chance to increase their health and fitness, as well as their resilience to drugs, alcohol and tobacco, by accessing Coram Life Education.
With your support, we can achieve these goals, to better the chances in life of children and young people across the nation.
