Kit list

The following is a recommended C2C Kit List compiled by Marcus Escott, Team Leader 2007/2008. Working on the basis that most C2C riders will ride 8 legs; the suggestion for minimum kit is as follows:

Head:
Helmet
Racing Cap or Skull Cap (NB. you will be provided with a C2C Racing Cap).
Head Band - Wind Proof
1 x Pair of Sunglasses with interchangeable lenses for night and day riding.

Base Layers/Tops:
2 x S/Sleeve Base layers - Breathable
2 x L/Sleeve Base layers - Breathable
2 x L/Sleeve Tops - Cycle specific
2 x S/Sleeve Tops - Cycle specific
1 x Gillette

(NB. For those riders that aren't into their Lycra, at least one of your S/Sleeve Tops and L/Sleeve Tops should be cycle specific and have pockets on the back for food, inner tubes, money, phone and ID).

Jacket/Visibility:
1 x Rain Jacket - Breathable
1 x Fluorescent Band for night time riding.

Legs:
3 x Cycle Shorts (Bib for more comfort)
1 x Leg Warmers
1 x Full length Shorts or Tights to go over shorts or 2 pairs of full length shorts instead of Leg Warmers.

(NB. Ideally take 1 pair of Leg Warmers and 1 pair of Thermal Tights, this way you are covered for extreme cold or with leg warmers temperatures from 8 - 14 degrees).

Feet:
1 x pair of cycle specific Shoes - NOT TRAINERS.
1 x Over Shoes
6 x Socks

Hands:
1 x Cycle Mitts
1 x Gloves

This will allow you to mix and match, keep warm early morning and late evening, and if the sun is shining get a tan!

Conclusion:
As this kit can be expensive, we would advise you to strongly invest in at least two pairs of good Shorts, the Base Layers and a good Rain Jacket that is Breathable. These are the items that will keep you warm and dry, and provide comfort.

Weather:
Obviously we need to look at the weather nearer the time of the ride, as we might need less or more cold weather gear.

Equipment:
C2C have full mechanical support from two highly experienced mechanics and a mobile workshop for the duration of the ride.

Return Form: Please do not delay the return of the Bike Specification Form as this will enable the mobile workshop to carry the spares required for all bike models and brands on C2C 2008 ride, please complete and return this form by Friday 30 November 2007 to: P.O.Box C2C c/o Wordsearch 85 Clerkenwell Road London EC1R 5AR.

(NB. It is the responsibility of all entrants to notify C2C of any changes to the bike specification)

Lights:
We would recommend the following lights are compulsory.
Front and Rear lights - Front light to see rather than a ‘flasher’ to be seen. It is important to stress beamed lights that can illuminate road constructions, unlit roads, etc.

Essential Bike Accessories:
Mini Pump
2 x Inner Tubes
Allen Keys

Food & Drink:
2 x 750ml Water Bottles
Energy Bars & Energy Drinks

Water will be provided on the ride in butts from the vans. Some energy bars and snacks will be provided by C2C.
